Today I am excited to be talking to Carl Chambers about the church. As a Vicar for the Church of England today he brings light and hope to the conversation about the church sexual abuse and for the need for truth and reconciliation.

A really powerful conversation with a very courageous man. I spent several months looking for someone to speak up about the church and found it very difficult to find anyone.

Carl was a real pleasure to speak to with so much wisdom and how we can move forward. It is time for us to share our stories and be heard. Carl is also an ex-boarder so he shares some of his own experiences at boarding school...

Carl Chambers is a Church of England Vicar at St. Michael & All Angels Church in Wilmington, Kent. He is passionate about giving voice and shining light on issues in the church.

Some of the questions for Carl:

1. I would love for you to share some of your journey in getting to where you are now. What led you into the church?
2. I notice within the church that there has been a lot of cover up over different issues like safeguarding and abuse. Why do you feel this is the case?
3. How do we start to shine light into these issues and bring healing to those who have been affected by some of these wrongdoings in the church?
4. Is there any light that you can shine and speak about? What is it that we are not talking about?
5. I know that you attended boarding school from a young age. What was the impact for you of going to board at such a young age?
6. Bullying. Why is bullying so latent in some boarding schools? How does it crush people? Again, what can we do to start to bring healing to what went on in these schools?
7. What changed your mind about your boarding school experiences? You left as head boy and thought that you loved it.
8. What is your analogy regarding the church and the abuse?
9. What is your vision moving forward? How do we bring healing to these institutions?
